Lot 484
British Military Light Dragoon Flintlock Service Pistol, circa 1770-1780. This pistol has a 9".67 calibre round iron barrel, with Tower arsenal proofs; "CROWN over GR over BROAD ARROW"and two "CROWN over CROSSED SEOTERS" marks. Lock is marked on the tail of the lock plate; "KETLAND & CO," (Tower of London contract maker) and "CROWN over GR" in front of the cock. The lock and barrel have a dark brown to black age rust patina. The initials "FR" are carved in the left side of the stock. Brass regulation furniture retaining a lovely untouched dark olive patina. The stock has an old repair at the muzzle where the stock cracked then was mended. A very nice example of one of the most popular British military pattern flintlock pistols that may have been used in the American Revolutionary War. In good working order.

British/American Colonial Brass Barrel Flintlock Pistol, circa 1770. This pistol has a 9.25".60 calibre round brass barrel with proofs; "oval P" and "oval V". The top of the barrel is marked; "LONDON". The lock is marked; "M SCHUSLER" and may be a period replacement. Brass furniture. The stock is in wonderful condition, retaining 90% of the original finish. A wonderful British/American Colonial flintlock pistol in good working order.

British/American Colonial Brass Barrel Flintlock Pistol, circa 1780-1790. This pistol has a 9".56 calibre round brass barrel with the remnants of; "EXTRA SHARPE PROOF", and is stamped "NJ" (Possibly for New Jersey Surcharge). Has brass furniture. The lock is unmarked and a later replacement. The stock has a period repair just above the rear of the lock plate where a piece of wood was sliced in. The left side of the stock has a 3-1/2" crack, but has not split and is still solid. This is an extremely attractive Colonial flintlock pistol in good working order, and has nice eye appeal.

Revolutionary War Era, British/American Assembled Flintlock Musket. United States, c. 1770-1780. The nicely crafted Service Contract musket with 39" round smoothbore barrel, and steel bead sight. Early British arsenal proof marks on barrel. The 1770's pattern lock also with "Tower, Crown over GR (George III)," and stamped "CROWN over BROAD ARROW." The cock is an old replacement. This musket was most likely restocked, or built from parts in the American Colonies. It conforms to the Committee of Safety style. The wood stock shows normal moderate wear and use, and is overall sound, with good eye appeal. Musket is dressed in both steel and brass regulation furniture, along with steel rod, shoulder sling hardware. Length: 55-3/4". A desirable piece of American Colonial history, and is in good working order.
